    Corners Game (Boxed)
    Jeannie (Unknown) 11/18/2008 4:36 PM
In March of our first year home schooling, I overheard someone ask my son what he was learning in math. He said, "We don't do math." I was horrified and rushed to explain that we indeed to math. My son, said, "You're kidding -- that's math?! It's my favorite thing we do all day". Corners has been so instrumental in my son learning mental addition and subtraction that we now give the Corners Game to his friends for birthday gifts.

This is the third product I've bought to help my 6 yr old granddaughter get started with numbers but the first to really click. Some of the activities so stimulate her, the lesson takes surprising directions and turns into play.

We LOVE the math card games!

We LOVE the math card games! We watched the instructional DVD and I had to make my children choose only two games to play that night. My 2nd grader and Kindergartner play them independently just for fun and we play them as a family for fun too. Today my 4th grader asked me to look up how to play some division games. "I need the extra practice, Mom, and I know there is a fun division game in the math card game book". I think the games are wonderful and the author is a genius!

    Math Card Games

The RightStart Math Card Games are a WONDERFUL way to practice math with young children! My boys love the idea that we are playing games for our math lessons twice a week. The Card Games kit has several different sets of cards to practice anything from math facts and mental math to learning about fractions and how to manipulate them. I love that the cards are simple, without the distractions you would have if you were using a standard playing card deck to practice your math. They are laminated for long term use, and each deck is printed on a different color card stock so that it is easy to identify which deck of cards you need to grab. The manual that comes with the kit has over 200 games that you can play with the cards that are included. It is divided up into major math topic sections so that it is easy to find a game to practice the specific concept on which you are working. For fractions, there are 2 laminated cards with fraction bars on them so that the student can see how different fractional amounts relate to each other while playing the games. The kit also comes with an abacus for introducing and practicing different concepts while the students are learning and playing. This is a great kit and we use ours regularly!
